Rapid technical advances and expanding mission roles have created new opportunities for the Geospatial industry. Geospatial technologies have become mainstream applications throughout the government and industry, and geospatial companies have assumed important roles in supporting national security.

Against this backdrop, the panel will explore measures to identify and cultivate promising new geospatial technologies, build and maintain interoperability across Geographic Information System (GIS) and related software applications, and nurture a strong industrial base for geospatial technology, information collection and processing and production services. The panel will consider appropriate roles for the Federal government and industry in establishing a partnership that best serves homeland security needs.
